History of Blackjack

The conventional wisdom claims that the game of blackjack originated from the French parlor game twenty one or vingt et un. In the beginning of the eighteenth century this game was a favorite with French people and it moved on to the US where based on the primary rules the name of the game changed to blackjack.  

 

Following the legal gambling explosion in the 1950s and 1960s, all wished to learn the game of blackjack and bust the house. The complex blackjack theory and strategies were explained in published books, zooming to the tops of the best selling books. Using a math strategy to obtain a small advantage over the house was promoted in one specific book for blackjack aficionados. Firing the public’s imagination, blackjack evolved into the favorite of all casino games in America while millions throughout the country tried their luck at casinos.

Considering all the success that blackjack aficionados were having in the casinos, it didn’t take too long, however, before the casinos tried to make rule amendments, so that it would become increasingly difficult for calculating blackjack’s odds. However, as the result of a public reaction it usually made the casinos restore the original blackjack rules and use other systems for assuring the healthy state of the house advantage. These rules comprised the introduction of other packs of cards into each game and employing shuffling machines to shuffle the cards more often and so break up formations of card counting as a useful method which blackjack aficionados had used.
