History of Roulette
Since its inauguration in the 1861 into the first casino in Monaco, the easy game of roulette has become an unequalled favorite. Invented in France its name is French too. The meaning is little wheel and its origins are a mystery and several town folk tales have evolved about its beginning.
There are those who claim that the game of roulette was invented by Francois Blanc from France for the first Monte Carlo casino. Legends claim that Blanc tried to sell his soul in order to make the roulette discovery and this is backed up by the overall sum total of numbers of 666 on the roulette wheel. Pascal is also credited by other legends and that he was interested in scientific trials in his discovery of the wheel.
Undoubtedly, whatever is true, roulette’s popularity is embedded in its ease of playing and reputed luck. In Paris, in 1765, with the first roulette arrangement, by way of New Orleans and throughout Europe it became the favorite casino game. The roulette wheel, nowadays, is located throughout the world in every casino, assuring its continued popularity and excitement for many generations still in the future.
